Tips on downloading and using the Top Hat app - Student Guide

You should create a UoL Top Hat account using a web browser before you use the Top Hat app, see Guidance on how to create a University of Leeds Top Hat account.

We do not recommend using either the iOS or Android apps to take summative assessments - these should be taken on a laptop or PC web browser (Google Chrome).

Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing issues using the app on your device, the advice is to:

  1. try disconnecting from the Wi-Fi and reconnecting (this can help if you are moving around campus).
  2. make sure that your app is up to date.
  3. use a web browser instead (Google Chrome is recommended).
