Privacy Options in CampusPress

There are several privacy options available in CampusPress when you first create a blog.

  • Discourage search engines from indexing this site: note that this option does not block access to the site - it is up to search engines to honour your request.
  • Only registered users of University of Leeds can view this site: restricts access to your blog only to staff and students.
  • Only registered users of this site can have access - anyone added as a user: this is the default option selected, and is the appropriate choice for users who want their content to be private. Users must be added to the blog with an appropriate role to be able to access it.
  • Only admin users of this site can view it: good for testing purposes before making it live.
  • Anyone that visits must first provide this password: note that registered users of the blog will not require a password.

After you have set up your blog, the privacy settings can be changed if necessary. Go to the dashboard for the blog, then select Settings from the left hand menu. Next, click on Reading. The list of privacy options will then be available for you to change.

Note that when a class blog is created and students attach their own blogs to become part of the class blog, then all privacy settings are controlled by the instructor via the class blog settings.
