PebblePad Guides Roles

For the purpose of guidance, PebblePad have defined roles for engaging with its functions and workflows. In this page we outline the roles that are relevant to staff and students at the University of Leeds. To view role-specific guides from PebblePad's website, visit the PebblePad Help Hub homepage.

Learners

Learner is a role synonymous with a University of Leeds’ student. Although staff may also use PebblePad as a Personal Development tool and, as such, may assume the role of Learner in certain cases.

Resource Builders

Resource Builders create content for learners to complete. They usually create Templates or Workbooks and are involved in designing learning activities and programme approaches. They may be academic staff, educational developers or learning technologists.

Assessors

Assessors review student submissions, provide feedback, grade. They may provide oversight of a cohort's work similar to an academic mentor. Assessors are usually academic staff or mentors.

Externals

Externals fill a similar role to Assessors and have similar functionality for reviewing submissions. They are a unique role in PebblePad as they access and assess submissions by being assigned the External role in PebblePad workspaces as they do not have a University of Leeds IT account. They may be workplace assessors or mentors.

Workspace Managers

Workspace Managers oversee learning and assessment workflows. They usually create and configure PebblePad workspaces and assignments, and may be involved and designing assessment workflows. They may take on the role of Resource Builders and Assessor as well. They may be academic staff, educational developers, learning technologists, or for large cohorts this may be an administrator.

Please note that for a Workspace Manager, which involves creating workspaces, you need to be a Creator in PebblePad. To obtain this, complete the Creator Rights in PebblePad form.
