Getting Started with Podbean

Podbean is a podcasting recording and distribution service allowing for public and private sharing of epsiodic audio content through a variety of feeds and channels, available to all staff and students with support from the Digital Education Service. Due to limited licence availability, access must first be requested through the Podbean Account Request form via the IT Service Desk.

Supported devices

Podbean can be accessed via all major browsers for uploading pre-recorded content and managing your channel. A number of free and supported softwares are available to allow you to record and edit on any device. Hosting a recording or live broadcast directly via Podbean is also available via their iOS or Android app.

Logging in

Single Sign-On (SSO) and Duo 2-factor authentication is enabled for accessing Podbean through your University login.

From a web browser

Visit the Podbean SSO login portal. Or, from the PodBean main site, select Log in then Use single sign-on (SSO) instead.

Next, enter your university email address, including @leeds.ac.uk , to be redirected to the University login portal.

From the app

Select Login now, followed by Sign in with SSO. On the next screen, enter your university email address, including @leeds.ac.uk, to be redirected to the University login portal.

Listeners

Each podcast created within the University that has been released and made available to you will be featured in the University landing page, either as a list or tiles depending on your settings. These can be selected to open their individual podcasting landing page. Podcasts can also be hosted from Podbean to other third-party sites or streaming services.

Podcasts releases can be limited to only those within the organisation, or within specific user groups. If what you're looking for isn't appearing, click the PodBean logo to go to their homepage and check that you are logged in to your university account.

Creators

Podcast creators are divided into two roles, per channel they feature on: owners or contributors. These will be covered in more details in the User Roles Guide to come soon. Admin users are also available through the Digital Education Service.

An additional licence will need to be added for those uploading or creating content, but can be requested by completing the Podbean Sign-Up Form. These are added to individual accounts by the Digital Education Systems Team, and may take 4-5 working days to go live.

Participating as a guest on an existing channel does not require an additional role. See group recording guidance on the PodBean website for more details.
