Supporting Students with Podcasting Publication - Staff Guide

Podcasting channels through the Podbean pilot project are available to both staff and students for independent creation of University-related content. A student's time in university is an important opportunity for experimentation and creativity in learning, and especially in failure. It is part of our role as members of the University of Leeds community to ensure there is support and guidance available to students should that occur. With that in mind, we are asking students looking to explore podcasting to have a nominated member of staff named alongside them when requesting their channel.

Supporting a students' access request

Both staff and students apply for access to the Podbean platform through a Podbean Account Request form on the IT website. Students completing the form will be asked to include a member of staff as an approver for their request. This will trigger an automated email which you can reply to directly.

What isn't required when supporting a student podcast?

  • you don’t need to manage accounts or IT support

Be available to support students in finding answers to any questions and navigating university policy and systems. You don't need all the answers yourself, but as a member of staff you may be better equipped to find who does, such as connecting a student with the Library's Digital Learning Support.
