How to access the "Using GenAI at Leeds" course on Minerva

The Using GenAI at Leeds course is a short training course designed to ensure that all students at the University of Leeds have a common baseline level of knowledge about how to use Generative Artificial Intelligence safely, responsibly and ethically.

This mandatory course will guide you through the University’s guiding principles and share examples to help you explore how to use GenAI in your studies.

All students (including PGR students) are required to complete the Using GenAI at Leeds online course and pass the associated test. It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

There are no limits on the number of attempts. You can review the course and try again until you pass.

You can also access the course by following these instructions:

  1. Log in to Minerva.
  2. Select Organisations from the Global Navigation bar on the left to open the Current Organisations page. This lists all the Organisations you are enrolled on.
  3. Select the Using GenAI at Leeds organisation
    • If you cannot see the organisation, you may need to scroll through the list or use the Search field on the Organisations page to find and open it.

You should now see the Using GenAI at Leeds course.

4. Inside the organisation, you will see 'Using GenAI at Leeds' folder. Select this tile to open the course, then click on 'Course Instructions' to get started. Useful resources can also be found within the folder.  

5. Once you have completed the course, you can take the test. You can take the test as many times as you need, and you can see your results by returning to the test and clicking Your grade where you will see a list of previous attempts. The test contains 8 questions, and you will need a passing score of at least 6 out of 8 (75%) to pass.

  2. Make sure that you are accessing the course and test via a supported browser (see the browser support guide).
