Demographic Segmentation

Demographic segmentation is a method used to categorise users based on characteristics such as interests, location, year of study, department, and more. This approach allows you to gain insights into different groups. By identifying trends and gaps, and offering customised options, demographic segmentation enhances the effectiveness of communication and engagement.

To implement this, first create a demographic poll followed by an opinion MCQ poll. Once you have presented the polls, you will be able to display the demographic breakdown.

Create a demographic poll

  1. In the Polls section select + Add content.
  2. Select Demographic as the poll type.
  3. Enter the Question title of your poll.
  4. Then enter the 'Choices' you want your participants to choose from.
  5. Press Create.
  6. Repeat this process if you want additional polls to split demographics.

Create an opinion poll (MCQ)

  1. In the Polls section select + Add content
  2. Select Multichoice as the poll type.
  3. Enter the 'Question title' of your poll. That is your question you want to ask.
  4. Enter the 'Choices' you would like your participants to choose from.
  5. The default allowed selection will be one.
  6. Select Create.

Please ensure the question title and choice options represent an opinion question — i.e. what they think, like, prefer, etc.

You can create several different opinion polls in one session.

Present both polls and then display a demographic breakdown

  1. Run your session as normal and present the questions to the participants and share the voting results.
  2. Select the Show a demographic split button (icon of two people) next to the relevant MCQ poll to display a breakdown by demographics
