Ways to communicate with your students at a module level - Staff Guide

There are two key tools which you can use to communicate with students on your Minerva module:

  • Announcements
  • Messages

Announcements

Announcements go to all members of the module (staff and students).

Staff can post announcements to the Minerva module. These appear in the Activity Stream and in the module as a pop-up when students enter the module. Announcements can be drafted in advance and scheduled to appear at a future date. Announcements that are posted immediately can also be emailed to module members. You can only post Announcements to available modules.

See Module announcements for guidance on how to create an Announcement.

Messages

Messages is a Minerva tool for sending communications to module members; only staff can send Messages and students cannot reply. Messages can be sent to all module members, all instructors, all students, groups or individuals as required. Messages can be sent to unavailable modules.

Messages can be accessed in Minerva, staff also have the option to email a copy of a message to module members. See Minerva Messages for further information and guidance on sending messages.
