Microsoft are retiring Stream (Classic) - here's what you need to know

From 20 February you will no longer be able to choose to upload new videos to Stream (Classic). Instead you should use Stream (on SharePoint). All meeting recordings have been accessible through Stream (on SharePoint) since June last year so this change affects users who have been choosing to manually upload new videos to Stream (Classic).

You can find the Stream homepage at https://stream.office.com and you can upload videos directly from there. In future Microsoft will be updating the Apps list from the Office 365 homepage so Stream (on SharePoint) will be available from the Office 365 homepage.

Why are we doing this?

Microsoft are retiring Stream (Classic) so we will need to migrate content to Stream (on SharePoint). Before we can start the migration we need to stop new content being added to Stream (Classic).

What does this mean for me?

You will still be able to view your videos on Stream (Classic), but any new videos should be uploaded to Stream (on SharePoint). Later in the year your videos on Stream (Classic) will be migrated to Stream (on SharePoint), but the existing links to them will continue to work for two years (they will be redirected once the videos have been migrated).

To prepare for your videos to be migrated please delete any videos you no longer need.

We will let you know when your videos are about to be migrated and when the migration has been completed. This will not happen until later in the year.
