A new Turnitin Similarity Report integration is now available for Blackboard Assignments. Our guide on using Blackboard Assignment with the Turnitin similarity report integration will provide you with more information.

Deciding whether to use Turnitin Assignment or Blackboard Assignment?

Key differences between Turnitin Assignment and Blackboard Assignment include:

  • Students can submit multiple files to one Blackboard Assignment submission point. Any file type can be submitted. A similarity report will be generated for all files which are supported by Turnitin (Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF and plain text).
  • Multiple audio/video recordings can be added as feedback
  • Files of feedback can be uploaded
  • Inline marking is available - this uses Blackboard Annotate (Turnitin Feedback Studio is not available via Blackboard Assignment)
  • Settings are available to accommodate different due dates for students with extensions
  • Staff can be allocated papers for marking

The Turnitin Similarity Report integration is not currently available for group assignments, peer review or parallel grading, but we expect those configurations to be supported during the 2024/25 academic year.
