Request a staff role for a module in Minerva - Staff Guide

If you are teaching/assisting with a module then you must be enrolled on to the module via Banner.

To be added to a module as a member of staff:

  • Please contact the Student Education Service (SES) team within your school as they will need to create your enrolment record via the Banner form SIAASGN. This form will need to be updated with the relevant Banner code to ensure you have the correct staff role. You can check the staff roles available in Minerva and include details of the role you require, to ensure you have the permissions you need.

Once the enrolment is added or updated in Banner it will be reflected in Minerva the next day.

You may be asked to provide details of your active payroll number and this is used to ensure you are attached to the correct profile (in cases where you may had previous roles at the University).

If you don’t have a SES team aligned to your department, contact your Banner Super User (this link will take you to the IT website), or contact your Faculty Learning Technologist team for advice.


Only want to view the module? If you just want to view a module you will most likely need to ask one of the teaching staff to manually enrol you. They can only give you the same access as students though.


Enrolling staff onto Minerva module areas from previous academic years

New staff who require access to Minerva modules older than the current and previous year will need to be added manually. This is because staff can only be enrolled through Banner when a staff record exists for them in that same year. New staff who need access to older Minerva modules should please submit a request via the IT website.
