Throughout your studies you will engage with a range of digital education systems at the University of Leeds that will support your learning. The Student Guides section of this website contains guidance on how to use these systems. Minerva

Minerva is the institutional Virtual Learning Environment – it gives you easy access to the digital learning resources of your modules, as well as links to essential services such as reading lists, your timetable and much more.

Student Guide to Digital Assessment Systems

Your module leader/tutor may ask you to complete digital assessments during your studies. Find quick links to the submission guides for the most widely used digital assessment tools/systems. The assessment tools/system you will use is dependant on your course, and method of assessment chosen by your tutor.

Assignments (Blackboard)

Blackboard Assignment is the assignment tool accessed through Minerva.

Ally

Have you ever found content in your module that was difficult to read, or you wish came in a different format? With Ally, you can download alternative formats of instructor content directly from your module or organisation in Minerva.

Athena TDM

Athena TDM is a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for non-degree courses run by the University of Leeds which are available to external participants.

Buddycheck

Buddycheck is a tool you may be asked to use as part of peer evaluation of your contribution to group work.

China Connect

If you are studying from China you may find this tool helpful. It can help boost the loading times of and performance of digital education systems.

Collaborate

Collaborate is one of three virtual classrooms used by the University for online teaching. Your module leader/tutor will tell you if they expect you to use Collaborate.

Gradescope

Gradescope is an assessment tool that allows you to submit a number of different assessment types, including handwritten work and computing code.

Labster

3D laboratory training software, which allows you to work through interactive, virtualised laboratory simulations which are added to your Minerva module.

Minerva

Mediasite (Lecture Capture)

Learn how to watch your lecture capture recordings and create your own digital content to share with your tutor and others.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform, and is also one of three virtual classrooms in use at the University. Your module leader/tutor will tell you if they expect you to use Teams.

Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 includes a large range of productivity apps you have access to during your time at Leeds.

Padlet

Padlet is a collaborative digital notice board that can be kept private or shared with others.

PebblePad

PebblePad is a versatile system enabling you to demonstrate and share your skills and knowledge in a variety of ways from portfolios to blogs and is also used for assessment activities.

Test (Blackboard)

Blackboard Test is an assessment tool which can be used for formative and summative assessment. It is accessed through Minerva.

Turnitin

Turnitin is a submission service designed to detect and prevent plagiarism and support online grading. You may be asked to submit your assignments or receive assignment feedback/marks via Turnitin.

StREAM@Leeds (Learning Analytics)

StREAM@Leeds is the University of Leeds Learning Analytics system.

Zoom

Zoom is a collaboration tool and is also one of three virtual classrooms in use at the University. Your module leader/tutor will tell you if they expect you to use Zoom.
